the discussion is significant because most parents face some dilemma of this kind if the boys do not get Financing. they must accrue as much money as possible so that problems abroad are minimised.but, i feel that there is always some problem at some point for various reasons.the planning goes awry.the boy is to take up some job.i believe we can not plan every inch of the career.the boy must learn to face the situation as it comes.

In my opinion the living expenses depend upon the student.

The average fees in an NZ university will approx NZ$18,000/- to NZ$25,000/-p.a. Of course the fees will vary depending on the subjects and the institute chosen. e.g The fees in a government polytechnic or a private college will be much lesser. Also fees for courses like medicine, architecture etc are higher than other courses. The cost of living will be around NZ$15000 pa.
But do keep in mind that often students and their spouses are allowed to work in NZ (subject to meeting the policy requirements) which is a big help.
