A minimum aggregate of 45% in their UG programme is required for candidates to be considered for the PG programme. A minimum aggregate of 50% is needed for the M.Tech programme; however, students just need a valid UG degree to be considered for the M.Ed and Integrated M.Sc-PhD programmes. A minimum of 40% of the total marks is required to pass each paper. In addition, two practical papers, each worth 50 marks, will be included in Papers 05 and 07 in accordance with the syllabus.

Admission to Gauhati University typically depends on the specific programme and level of study (undergraduate or postgraduate). Generally, for undergraduate programs, candidates need to score at least 50-60% in their 10+2 examinations from a recognised board. For postgraduate programs, a minimum of 50-55% marks in the relevant undergraduate degree is often required. However, these percentages can vary based on the course and category of the student (General, SC, ST, OBC, etc.).
