SMIC or Salaire Minimum Interprofessionnel de Croissance is the term for minimum wage for employees in France. As of 01 January 2024, it was €11.65 gross per hour. Employers are supposed to give atleast this much amount to their workers irrespective of their experience or age. If you're an overseas student in France, you can take up part-time employment and can expect to obtain at least the SMIC rate every hour, provided after deductions. Which industry are you working in will also decide your compensation. So, those in retail and hospitality might obtain a bit more than the minimum wage.
