There are 2 types of companies- ones which focus on CGPA score which shall be atleast between 6.5-7 for placement and more if it comes to B.Tech or maangemnt courses. The others are who inyereview the students andsee their skills and conduct at thetime of interview and do not stress on CGPA score. However packages can vary accordingly. So try and maintain upto 7 CGPA.

Most companies want 6 to 6.5 CGPA. If you have a minimum CGPA still you will be able to sit for 7075% of the companies However, some companies want it around 8.5. It is just a threshold set by companies to filter students. If you have a CGPA of more than 8.5 you will be eligible for 100% of the companies. Having a 7 CGPA with skills is far better than having a 9 CGPA with zero skillsets. Companies are not looking for bookworms. They are looking for skilled individuals. Do your best because your parents & relatives will only check your CGPA, not skills and yes if you are good enough maintaining a 78 CGPA in LPU will not be a big deal for you.

Hi, I donot much about LPU however based on my experience I would recommend Chandigarh University if you want to secure placement for yourself in well reputed firms. For campus placement at LPU, one has to register oneself for placements. You pay a fee of Rs 10000. In LPU to get a decent placement, you need to maintain a minimum of 7 CGPA. However if you are taking admission in MBA or B.Tech in CSE or IT like programs then you should try to always score more than 7 CGPA (as much as you can). I am alumni of Lovely Professional University,I did MBA from this University and I would say LPU is one of the best choices indeed. It provides for multiple industrial exposures,live projects,an updated curriculum rigor and technology along with very good placements and personality development. LPU is helping me grow professionally and personally with its career-oriented programs and support. If you want to score good CGPA in any programme ,be regular in your class,dont miss the lectures because if you maintain more than 90% attendance, you will get marks. Now marks of all four section will be added and it will decide your final TGPA of semester.Your total marks will added and final grade is depends upon the performance of other students in that subject.If highest score in that subject is low then your grade will be high even if your marks is less and vice-versa. Believe me guys, once you get shortlisted to sit in a company, CGPA doesnt matter at all. But, concentrate more on the word SHORTLISTED. If you are not shortlisted, you will not be able to even sit for the company exam. Thats the reason CGPA becomes the most important thing in university. Now, heres the tricky part. What if you are always getting shortlisted but you dont have the skills which companies actually want from you, You dont have that personality, that aura, that technical knowledge or those coding skills? In my batch, I have seen both types of students. One was those who were unable to appear in much of the companies because of CGPA issues but when they got even 1 chance they bagged the Job. Second types were those who were always getting shortlisted for each company but still were getting rejected from companies because they lacked those skill set which company wanted. So to conclude, I would say, CGPA holds importance till you are shortlisted for a company. After that, during interviews/GDs/Case Studies, companies will not care if you are a 10 pointer or 7 pointer. So, try maintaining a balance between studies and extra co-curricular activities. Build your coding skills if you want to get into software company. Build your public speaking skills and Team working skills if you want to work in a consultancy firm. Build your core technical knowledge other than that of course books if you want to get into core company of your respective branch.
