MAT exam is a bit easier than CAT. In MAT, it's like basic questions to be asked from a candidate but in case of CAT, level of questions are very hard. You can't solve questions of mathematics and reasoning without any preparation.

MAT exam is comparatively easier than CAT Exam, level of difficulty in CAT is more than MAT. Also, MAT fetches penalty of 0.25 for each wrong question but CAT fetches 1/3 or say 0.33 penalty for wrong answer. I hope this would help.

    Hi,
Both MAT and CAT are entrance examinations that management colleges accept. There are several institutes which accept both. Both are fairly popular as well. However CAT is the exam which helps you most and is accepted by the best B-Schools in India. On the other hand MAT is the easier version. CAT is no doubt tougher than MAT. You have to be very consistent in studies for CAT and should have a deep knowledge and intense practice of everything. If you are aiming for CAT 2019, you must start the preparation today. Nothing is impossible, just trust your capabilities. All the best.

CAT is a lot tougher than MAT. You can simply attempt MAT exam. There is no need for preparation. CAT on the other hand needs a lot of preparation. Also, the pattern of the questions is different in CAT. In the verbal section you get most of the questions as comprehension questions. Basically, CAT needs a lot of working and problem solving skills to obtain a decent percentile.
