The JEE Mains scores are used for admission to B.Tech courses in NITs. Around 50% of the seats in all courses are reserved under the home-state quota. To get admission under this quota, the applying students must have completed their 12th grade in the state in which the NIT is located. For instance, if you want to get admission in NIT Durgapur under the home state quota, you must have completed your 12th grade in West Bengal state.

The home state quota in JEE Mains is calculated based on the number of engineering colleges and available seats in the state. The allocation of seats under the home state quota is determined by the state government or the relevant admission authority. The allocation is usually based on the number of engineering colleges in the state and the number of seats available in each college. Generally, the home state quota is calculated as a percentage of the total number of seats available in the engineering colleges in the state. The exact percentage of the home state quota may vary depending on the state and the year.
