Rohit, you are still a 1st year student. So I suggest you concentrate on your B.Tech at the moment and plan for UPSC exam when you come in the 4th year. i think you are at right path .this is the best time to prepare a high level exam such as ias . i advice you to choose theoritical subjects for mains. you should keep an eye on scoring subjects.

for ias you have to clear civil service exam conducted by upsc after completing your graduation. You have enough time to prepare and think about choosing your subjects for ias-mains.
