Basically, there are 3 sections in CAT exam - verbal ability, DILR, Quants.
Verbal ability-
Start reading newspaper daily to increase your reading speed and grasping power. Don't miss out the editorial page. Do proper analysis of articles on editorial page. Try to make summary of articles that you read para by para. However, reading newspaper won't be sufficient. Start solving RCs on a regular basis with proper analysis.
DILR-

I suggest you write a mock CAT to figure out your strengths and weak areas. Depending on your score you can figure out when to start preparing. Its possible to score well in CAT by preparing rigorously for 4-5 months if your basics are good.

9 years agoDear Sourabh. for CAT preparations get Arihant's CAT practice book and practice as much as you can. because its all about practice in cat preparation. Focus on areas in which you feel that you can score good marks, practice maths, don't learn formula's understand their application.
