How the students can get better opportunities regarding their interest?

i want to ask how a student can get what in he is actually interested. sometimes parents decide, imitate friends and also when he see other people are opting that subject in which he dont feels any attraction and interest but he goes. then how we mould ourself that we give exactly right direction to

First of all students should know himself,what competencies he had,what can he do in proper ways,he must be confident and should know all aspects of the course he is going to opt.another way is to undergo through the psychological interest test etc.
