how these courses will help me in future?

I am nilesh patil. I have just completed my engineering in E&C. now i am in search of jobs. Now i want to do some additional software courses such as Java and .Net. Are this courses good for the future in IT field? As i am from E&C field, is these courses hard to learn? Please tell me soon.
