How to become a child counselor in India?

A child counselor specifically deals with the mental health and wellness of children. They help children overcome their problems with a friendly approach. To become a child counselor in India, you will have to follow the following steps: 1. Take psychology as a 12th-grade subject. 2. If you have not taken psychology even then, you can pursue graduation in psychology. 3. After completion of the 12th, you will have to do a Bachelors in Psychology as either a B.A. Or B.Sc. 4. After that, you will need to pursue a master's as an M.A. Or M.Sc. In psychology. 5. To work as a child counselor, you may also be required to have a one-year postgraduate Diploma in guidance and counselling. This Diploma is offered by reputed institutions such as NCERT. After that, you can practice as a child counselor in school or work as an individual counselor.

Often children suffer from mental illness or trauma because of loneliness or stressful home environment. In such situations, its highly recommended to consult a child counsellor who will help the child to overcome problems in a friendly approach. What you need :- After completion of 12th class in any subject, you can go for an undergraduate degree programme. To become a counsellor in India, you need to pursue a counsellor degree (B.A. / B.Sc) in Psychology/ Clinical Psychology/ Counselling Psychology or any other similar subject.
