Examination for IAS is held every year by UPSC. All serious candidates prepare for minimum 1-2 years before appearing for the exam as approximately 2 lac candidates appear for these examinations for approximately 900 seats. The first thing would be to know the exam pattern, duration and syllabus of each subject. you should examine the solved papers to check the level and contents of the answers.
