How to become an IT professional?

Subhash, If you are very good with maths and programming, opt for Computers (BTech or BCA). I am not sure how good you are with maths and programming. If you are, then you must pick up Programming and take a language whether PHP/ HTML5 (web dev), .Net (for software dev) Java/ Android (for apps) or C#/ Unity (for games). However like i mentioned, you must be good with programming to move ahead in this area since you have to compete with MCAs and BTech(CS) applicants. So choose your internship/ industrial training very carefully. Do not just go for the cheapest to save money. See the IT company's credentials on the net. for example if someone provide LIVE PROJECTS are they there near the TOP on PORTALS like JUSTDIAL? Or if the company is registered with STPI (Software Technology Parks of India) - all good IT companies are registered with STPI. If a company spends money to market themselves to customers, only then they are able to get LIVE PROJECTS. Also, if you are an average programmer, and if you you're better with creative work, then you can head for web design or even vfx/ animation since there is a huge requirement coming up in that domain. There is also an intermediate path in games design and development. If you are good with Drawing and Creative opt for Design (Animation, VFX, Games, Fashion). If you are good with words become a writer (content, news, fiction, ads) or director. If you are good with keeping records go for Accounts or Stats or administration. If you are good with logic go for Law. If you are good at memorizing and love nature go for medical. If you are good with people go for Management. If you are good with nothing become a politican (haha, pun intended - actually you need very good insight into future for this). Wish you the best for your career. There are 5 steps to become a IT professional 1) Learn the Basics & then move to bigger things I suggest starting off with learning hardware and operating system fundamentals (installation, file system structure, how hardware interacts with the OS, etc.) before you move into more complex areas. The A+ certification exam is a good start for most. It teaches you about hardware and operating system basics. Network+ is a good certification for those wanting to move into the network/systems administration/network security side of I.T. 2) Learn TCP/IP Learning the TCP/IP protocol stack is key in understanding networking and how networks communicate. 3)Find out what part of I.T. you want to focus on and bust your butt to learn it If you think you might like systems administration, then I suggest experimenting with some server Operating Systems such as Windows Server 2003, or any number of Linux distributions. If you like networking, try and get your hands on some Cisco switches and a good CCNA book to start . 4) Get a job working as a technical support analyst This really helps in learning how an I.T. enterprise infrastructure works, as well as honing your basic troubleshooting skills. If you can’t land a job as a tech support person, consider volunteering your skills. There is always a community organization that could utilize free technical support, and you get free experience in the process. 5) Last but not least, PASSION AND DEDICATION. You have to want it in order to gain it. Dedication played a big part in my climb up the I.T. ladder. If you are not dedicated in this field you will be left behind. This career is a constant learning field.
