    Hello Sanket,
In order to be a professor of physics at an IIT, you must complete your B.Sc physics with good grades and get into any of the top-notch Masters programmes of the country, namely, in IITs, HCRI and some other top universities of India like DU, JU, JNU and CUH, and then get your doctorate done from the prestigious universities in UK and USA followed by 2 or 3 years' post-doc in physics.

IITs are very clear about their faculty recruitments. In order to be a professor of physics at an IIT, you must complete your B.Sc. Physics with good grades and get into any of the top-notch Masters programmes of the country, namely, in IITs, HCRI and some other top universities of India like DU, JU, JNU and CUH, and then get your doctorate done from the prestigious universities in UK and USA followed by 2 or 3 years post-doc in physics. Else you can get into the integrated Ph.D programmes offered at IISC, TIFR, IISER and CMI followed by a post-doc abroad.
