    To get admission to B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology, candidates must have 10+2 in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, Biotechnology, or a relevant subject from a recognised board. The selection criteria are based on WBJEE / JEE (Main) scores. For lateral entry, a Diploma in engineering is required, and the selection is based on JELET scores. The programme has 120 seats, with 15% reserved for foreign nationals/OCI/Gulf quota, 5% for TFW quota, and 10% for lateral entry.
