How to join merchant navy? What physical fitness does it require?

In order to pursue merchant navy as a career, one should have PCM as main subjects in 12th standard. You can give either of the following exams to get admission in Merchant navy: 1. IMU-CET: Once you clear IMU-CET, you are eligible for B.Sc Nautical Science in all the colleges affiliated to Indian Maritime University. The entrance exam is followed by an interview and medical check-up. 2. JEE: This exam is conducted by the IITs to get into the government colleges. The admission in T.S.Chanakya, Marine Engineering & Research Institute (Kolkata) and National Maritime Academy (Chennai) is based on the JEE marks. Physical fitness is of utmost importance in merchant navy. You would be required to clear a medical examination before joining the course. Also, you need to have 6/6 vision for each eye.

You could give exams conducted by any particular school, like Anglo eastern. Basic course after 12th is DNS-Diploma in nautical science.
