How to prepare for CAT and other competitive exams of MBA?

Hi Shaik Sha, If you generally observe, students prefer getting into a coaching institute to prepare for CAT or any other MBA exam. But if you want to go on with your preparation at home, it is not a problem. All you need is access to all the beneficial websites that provide material for preparation and guide students in how to prepare for these exams. If you are looking forward to crack the CAT exam and get into the best colleges for MBA, then you should definitely have a well planned strategy to do so. Firstly, CAT does not require you to mug up huge volumes of books. It is an aptitude test that requires a proper strategy and knowledge of what all will come in the exam. The following sections are part of the exam: Quantitative Aptitude Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning Other exams like SNAP, MAT, IIFT, CMAT and XAT have the general awareness section for which you will have to go through G.K books for current and static affairs. For all the sections that come in CAT and other exams, get access to some of the online preparation material from sources like , CL, TIME, etc. These have various section wise material that can help you while you are preparing for CAT and MBA related exams. Other than this, start reading newspapers and books that will help you prepare for verbal ability section. Good luck.

Hello, There are basically 4 sections in MBA entrance exam - Verbal Ability, DILR, Quants and GK- Verbal Ability: Start reading newspaper daily to increase your reading speed and grasping power. Don't miss out the editorial page. Do a proper analysis of articles on the editorial page. Try to make a summary of articles that you read para by para. But reading a newspaper won't be sufficient. Start solving RCs on a regular basis with proper analysis. DILR This is one of the toughest section, especially from previous 2-3 years. Not only it is tough but it also checks how quick your senses are and how good you are in selecting the sets. So the best thing to score in LR-DI is to practice more questions on a daily basis so you understand which sets you should leave and before attempting the sets what are the things you should look for. I would suggest this book 'Puzzles by George J Summers'. Quants This section is one of the most scoring section for student and you too should try to get maximum marks in this section. It has a proper syllabus and you need to practice each and every chapter. The major topics are- Geometry, Arithmetic, Algebra, Number System and Modern Math. It is basically the math that you have studied till the tenth standard. However, having said that, the questions are not really easy. Focus more on Arithmetic and Algebra as these two are the most important topics. GK Read newspaper daily for current affairs and go for Lucent for static GK.
