Hi,
Regarding preparation of CAT test I would suggest you to should start with self-preparation and stick to it for few weeks and revise your class 10 and 12th maths (CBSE/ICSE if possible) to strengthen your basics.
After few weeks of self preparation you may then considering joining some good coaching institute in your city which offers quality coaching for CAT test.
The number of hours that you are required to put in depends on your individual aptitude however it is always advisable for self study of 3-4 hours daily apart from coaching.

CAT stands for Common Admission Test.
It is a well known exam.
It helps students to get into to business colleges in India like IIM's for MBA.
So if your base in Business and Commerce subjects is really strong then it is good.
If you have a firm knowledge of your graduation subjects then you can self prepare for CAT.
But guidance my friend is really necessary.
So coaching is always good even if you are too much talented.
