    Hello,
It's really great that you are concerned about your future from the 1st year only. You can start preparing for GATE from now only by making your concepts clear on each topic of your field, it's really helpful for you.
    Best of luck.

You need to keep your basics clear for all your core subjects. Also, practice and sharpen your quantitative ability. Best approach to prepare is solve previous year GATE papers of your branch and try solving problems from study materials available of Made Easy /Career Launcher or any good coaching institute.

Your preparations for GATE starts from the very the first day of your first year. Make your basics clear in time. Be regular in college or in technical terms , be regular in classroom study. Refer good books like Mc Graw Hills, Pearson, Rajput, Khanna publications or GKP. Try to complete your coaching in last year only, and then take the exam. Clear all your concepts before completing your studies.

    Hello Anant, Very interesting question.
1st of all, you are engineering pursuing or passed out. If you have 3rd year students or final year students, then store all 3-4 years question patterns and watch which section ask more no of questions 2nd thing you which section is good or bad. Focus on that section. If passed out, take coaching. All the best.
