Som is most imp. for gate entrance so for this go for Strength of Materials: Advanced Theory and Problems 3rd Edition by Timoshenko,a variety of problems are given in it, now question s in gate also ask about design of machines so go for Design of Machine elements by V.B. Bhandari, for tom go for Theory of Machines by R.S. Khurmi and most important buy a book which has previous years gate solved or unsolved problems book which will give u an insight of gate paper and its toughness -
