How to prepare for IAS exam?

I have passed 12th from PCM this year & will do b-tech. but i am highly ambitious to compete IAS. But I don't know how and how much to begin and in which direction since I have plenty of time and want to build up my personality and knowledge for my goal bit by bit. Please give helpful advice.

We all can give certain of our impressions on preparation, but we can not be prescriptive. I personally feel that you need the maximum of hard work and study of a wide range of books.There should be a multi-sided growth of your personality.You have to live up to the challenges of the examination.

Start with economics and polity. Because once you understand the fundamentals of these subjects you will be able to comprehend newspaper in a better way. For economics NCERT class 12th Macroeconomic book is a must for concept building. Finish it in a week and then move to Ramesh Singh's Indian Econ
