How to prepare for IIMA for pursuing MBA?

Hi Karan, In order to pursue MBA from IIMs you must hold a bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA, plus you need to take CAT test. Please note that each IIM shortlists candidates for second stage of selection which may be independent of each other. The process may include: 1. Written Ability Test (WAT). 2. Group Discussions (GD) 3. Personal Interviews (PI). Performance in CAT examination is an important component in the admission process. IIMs may use previous academic performance of the candidates, relevant work experience and other similar inputs in short listing and ranking of candidates at various stages of the admission process. The processes, academic cut-offs and the weights allocated to the evaluation parameters may vary across IIMs. For more information you may refer the admissions policies of IIMs from their respective websites. Preparing for CAT is best done with a coaching institute of good reputation like IMS, TIME and Career Launcher. You can take their classroom courses or correspondence courses to receive guidance on various aspects of preparation, sample tests, areas of improvement etc. The CAT exam largely has questions on Maths, English vocabulary and comprehension and Logical reasoning. However, if you are very busy &amp; can not attend classes or coaching you can wish to improve your performance in English, it will help to a) read a lot of news magazines esp. on subjects you are not familiar with to improve your comprehension abilities b) work on your vocabulary at a rate of 5 new words a day using them in sentences and internalizing them rather than learning a whole list of new words. c) reading books on English improvement such as those by Norman Lewis d) finding some sample papers to assess yourself from time to time during your preparation process. Full Time MBA: Full time Regular MBA Executive MBA: An Executive MBA, or EMBA, is a graduate level business degree. This program is a lot like a regular MBA program.
