Preparation tips for the PUBDET: Get the syllabus. Usually, the seniors are very helpful in this regard. Collect the last 5 years' question papers. Study the theory portion from Resnick-Halliday-Walker/ Sears-Zemansky, if you have used them for your IIT preparation. Otherwise, any standard textbook for Plus Two would suffice.
