Yes, if you start from today then you will get the best in 2020 but that preparation must be honest. Now, regarding your specialization, mainly 4 specializations are run in industry namely marketing, finance, HR and operations. Out of which, marketing gives the highest salary structure with HR going the lowest. Regarding background, commerce graduates usually go for finance while engineering graduates choose operations as their domain.

Selection of stream should ideally come from your areas of interest and things you are really passionate about. It is good to research on what courses are offered in each stream to start with and gauging the industrial scenario. The courses offered may differ from college to college. It is definitely possible to prepare yourself well within one year with consistent efforts and dedication.

According to me, if you are concentrated and dedicated for something then you can achieve the goal easily. Selecting the proper stream in MBA depends upon you and the college that which type of companies are coming for the recruitment. Talk to the alumni of that particular college and ask about the placements and analyze the data. Then select the stream. Yes, it is possible to get ready until 2020 for any type of competitive exam. Just remember focus and dedication.
