When no one answered fro the first two days, I thought no one is interested in thsi subject. Thanks for the response now. In my expereince I would like to share one of the best way to select the foreign university is. Make sure the university offers PhD research programme in the same line in which you are taking up the field. This is becasue , normally while studying Masters the students pay around 5 to 6 lacs as tution fees. But when they do research they get 100 % schorlaship and stiphened to do research. Normally this money is not coming from university, this is coming from industry, who is sponsoring that research. This will be very clear... view more

In order to select universities abroad following things should be kept in mind:
1.The universities which best suits your profile.
2.Universities where in you can meet its financial requirement.
There are many parameters to select the university:
    1.Ranking.
    2.Placement.
    3.Research.
    4.Faculty.
    5.Location.
    6.Student teacher ratio.
    7.Library resources.
Most of the student go by ranking, but ranking solely should not be the criteria to finalize the universities.

The best university is one where a student, after studying all the available course content / library material, poses questions before the teacher(s), and gets a supplementary answer as well as guidelines for practical applications to theory.

It is a indeed a very good topic. According to me ranking not always work. Because ranking not always assure the authenticity of the institute or in other words, placement is not th ONLY thing the students look for. Some institutes have good placement but their degrees are not helpful in career progression. To add more views, I'd invite the experts like Aneeket , Pooja Kohli , Priya , gopal sharma. , Arvind Joshi245 Sir, Nikhlesh Mathur Sir, Gomtis Corner and others to please participate.
