How to select the branch in engineering?

Main criterion for selection of career option is your interest and competencies. Other criterion such growth, salary, future opportunities etc are secondary. If your criterion is job openings only then you should go for Computer Science or Electronics which will have sufficient jobs in next 10 to 20 years. -
Mechanical Engineering is called the ever green branch as Mechanical Engineers find suitable placement opportunities in almost all segments in industry. Traditional streams in demand also include Electronics and Communication Engineering, Instrumentation, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and so on. Besides there are a few new generation courses as well.
