You can apply for the UGC NET Exam, if you have completed Masters or Post graduation. The Basic Eligibility for the UGC NET Exam is to complete the Masters with at least 55 % marks in the post-graduation. The National Eligibility test is conducted every year in the month of June/Dec and many candidates apply for this exam. There is no age limit to appear in the National Eligibility test. The candidates qualified for the UGC NET-https://www.eduncle.com/cbse-ugc-net-exam Exam can apply for lectureship and JRF programme.

As you said that you have done your PG in geography, therefore, you are able to give your UGC NET exam in Geography subject. For applying in the UGC NET Geography exam you must have Post-graduation in Geography, Applied Geography, Geo-Informatics or any other related subjects with 55% aggregate ( for General Category and 50% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/Transgenders).
