Yes, of course, you can do that. Game programming requires your skills of Game Development, not the stream from which you were.

You can't make your career in it. But, you can pursue it as a hobby. In that case you will have both technical and management knowledge. Based on your interest. No one can stop you from learning anything. But, if you think it as a career, then you may face some or I could say many difficulties. Hope
