i am an MBBS doctor..i want to know whether i can do a phD at this stage from any university in india,or do i hav to do a PG degree first???

i hav done MBBS. at present m appointed as a demonstrator/tutor (physiology) in a medical college.now as i hav heard that after mbbs 1 can directly do a phD on interview basis.i want to know whether it is true or not?or do i hav to go for a post graduatio to be eligible for doin PhD???

    Hi,
    After completing MBBS you have 2 broad research option :
    First , you can get admission to a Medical Postgraduate Program (MD or MS) for 3 yrs and then enrol for Ph.D.
    Else,you can secure admission in one of the few Research Universities who admit meritorious Medical Graduates directly into their Research Programs leading to Ph.D along with fellowship.
    If you finish your PG in medical field and then apply for Ph.D abroad,your chances in getting admission in a good or top university will multiply.in that case you may get direct admission.but as an MBBS you definitely have to go through exam(will get details on websites about the exam fo

    To apply PhD in India is quiet easy. but there are some tips for that
    1.) the best scenario is having someone having a fellowship ( mostly provided by ICMR, DBT, CSIR, UGC), if u have any of these fellowships its very easy to get into a good PhD programs offered in institutes like IISc, AIIMS,PGIMER etc etc.
    2.)Orientation towards academics more than clinics , the fundaa is simple, u cant sail in two boats at a time.
    3.) even if u dont have fellowship, an MBBS graduate can get into research projects as SRF and can join Clinical research in an MNC. these research projects are integral part of all best medical institutes of india.
