I am B.E. 1st year student..when to start GATE preprations????is any coaching required for clearing GATE ???

gate tests your basci fundamentals as engineering student i will advice you to start prep. from 3rd year as gate syllabus covers your basic fields knowledge not elements other then mathematics you can download syllabus and prev. yeras ques. paper.for getting admission into IITs you need to score above 95 percentile and please refer the syllabus and according to it set your schedule and as far as tuitions are concerned i will advice you a NO,but ultimately decision rests on you and also visit <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="www.nptel.iitm.ac.in" style='word-wrap:break-word;'>www.nptel.iitm.ac.in</a> it will help you through your engineering if you want more guidance you can mail me.best of luck
