Hi Anil, There are two different ways to become Income Tax officer one of the well known ways is to sit for Civil Service Examination as on most of the Senior positions in various Government Departments in India are selected through these examinations, second method would be appear for SSC and get selected for a lower level position i.e. Income Tax inspector and then reach the higher positions through promotions. To be an Income tax officer you have to either appear for SSC Graduate level examination for recruitment to Income tax Inspector, or you have to appear Civil Service Examination conducted by UPSC. The upper age limit for these examinations is 27 years and 30 years respectively. If you have completed LLB you can work as a Tax Lawyer and pleasde the case before Income Tax authoroties. You ofcourse need to have a lot of experience for doing that.
