Financial Planning is a bigger domain and one could possible suggest that Risk management is a part of the same but when opting between the two, if will entirely depend on the two main aspects: Your interests, Kind of career field you want to get in.

Kiran, FRM is for entering into a career in Risk Management.
CFP is for entering into a career of Financial Planning. Both of them are poles apart.
If you are good in mathematics and statics, then try Risk Management. If you are good in investing your money, then try CFP.
