Normal M.Tech programme selection is done either directly through GATE or through initial GATE selection and further written test and interview. It is also called course programme, where students will be taking 12 to 14 courses (depends on the dept) to complete their course requirement, it is term-limited, you will have to complete within two years. Good for a job, also good for further studies, but you don't specialize much compared to M.Tech (research).
