If you are appearing in Final Year of Graduation, then you can attempt CAT exam. But, usually it happens late so one actually gets his result before the exam registration. But, if you want to just give an attempt then you can try anytime.

Before you appear for CAT, you need to decide on your interest areas and career aspirations, as CAT is an entrance exam for seeking admission into MBA. In case you intend to pursue a career in Technical / Research /Academics area then a Masters course in your Graduation level course will be a better option. However if you want to move into general management the MBA is suitable. As a pre-qualifying standard you need to ensure that you score more than 50% marks at graduation level for admission into MBA. The open test of CAT happens in November / December and most students appear for it during their final gear of graduation course.

CAT i.e. Common Admission Test is organized for different B. Schools including IIMS. Graduation is compulsory to take this exams. You can give your test, when your final result of graduation is about to come.
