Switching colleges in the first year is quite tough as most colleges do not accept lateral entries in the first year itself. However, if you keep up a good academic record, you may be able to switch colleges in the 2nd year. However, you should check with the admission authorities if lateral entries are permitted by your institute in the 1st year. There is slight chance of getting a transfer if there is a tie-up with your college and the target institute, but there is a low probability of transfers in the first year itself.
