I am in 2nd year B.Tech (IT). Is GATE conducted for every field? Can you recommend some preparation books for the same?

Yes, GATE is conducted in various fields. There is separate a book for each subject like as: OS - Peter B. Galvin CSO - Hamacher, M. Mono, William Stalling DBMS - Korth, Navathe and so many.

It is better if you prefer various books of different subject than a combined book.
