    As you are a beginner in programming, first you should select a programming language. I would recommend C, as you'll be studying C in at-least first 3 semesters of your B.Tech. So, practicing in C will also help you to score good in your course. Now, before you begin, your interest should be towards learning and not giving up. As programming is a different domain and people tend to give up if things aren't clear for them. So, make sure to not loose interest during the process.
