I am interested in statistics, how can I make a career in this?

In India, if you study (at least Masters) statistics from some dumb place you will end up being Maths teacher in some high school or at most join government (CSO, NSSO, etc. ). Via ISS exam which is good only in terms of money. If you do your Masters from good universities or institute, there is a huge scope of job and research. Well, "good" research option is limited to India, but people studying statistics as their major subject is very low too. About the job: all analytics farms hire statisticians (from IBM to TCS to EXL), same holds for the biggest financial farms like Goldman Sachs or Morgan Stanley. You could get jobs on banking...more
