Dear Vaibhavi, I do not know about SRM so I can't say anything but being alumni of LPU, I can share the details of Civil at LPU. My friend did B.Tech in Civil at LPU. The following are the highlights of Civil engineering in LPU: - 1. Most of the faculty staff are from reputed organizations with their the highest degree from various reputed institutes such as IITs, NITs, etc. Apart from that, faculty have got previous industrial experience also. 2. The capstone project is an integral part of B.Tech programme in which students have to pick a live project based on the practical problem-based scenario (ideally from industry) and work for six months under a mentor and present a report at the end. This is beneficial to enhance your presentation skills. 3. There is an internship programme which could be an opportunity for getting work experience and increase your chance to get employment after you pass out. But, of course, your academic record should be good to get this placement option. 4. Industrial visits are organized to nearby construction sites from time to time. There, you can SEE actual construction work going on. Be prepared to have dust on your shoes (believe me, it will be worth a lot). You have to ask questions yourself and trigger interest in the activities around you. 5. You will get some courses from soft skills, English language, mental and analytical aptitude side. This sounds dull to you as of now. But you will feel its importance when you face an interview panel in a company during your placement drives. 6. They have very good placement records and good infrastructure companies visit their campus, L & T, Simplex Piles Ltd, Era Infrastructure, Gammon India Ltd to name a few. 7. Career oriented Software training in project labs is given. To work in this profession, you are supposed to be familiar with software like MS-Project, STAAD Pro, MX Road, etc. None the less, you will be trained in Auto CAD in your second year which is prerequisite for any Civil Engineer. 8. Every theory course is complemented with relevant lab-based practical work. Some of the labs are based on field testing where experimental work is to be done, e. g. Soil Lab & Surveying Lab. Well if you ask me I would say there is no point comparing because both LPU and SRM University has their own story of glory and limitations. On one side where SRM University is famous for many branches. LPU is a younger a shining star in the ranking of Best Private University of India. Lovely Professional University's commitment to teaching excellence and providing the highest quality education to its students has once again brought laurels. The Ministry of Human Resource Department, Government of India has released NIRF Ranking 2020 and LPU appears in Top 100 in its most crucial Overall category, which includes IITs and Central Universities. University Engineering School is in the Top 100, Management School in the Top 50, and Pharmacy School in the Top 30 institutions of India. A new name as compared to SRM but a promising and a progressive university. However I can stance my own experience that I have witnessed very closely as an alumnae of LPU. LPU has become the only private university to obtain the NABL Accreditation of its laboratory testing facility under which the Unilab-Mechanical Testing of building and construction materials in the School of Civil Engineering, LPU is NABL accredited. There are certain remarkable points that makes LPU better for Civil Engineering, like:- LPU prepares their students from day 1 to become the most sought after civil engineers through meticulously designed framework. I have done MBA from Lovely Professional University and I had many friends from Civil Engineering, so I have idea course, Placements, Curriculum, as they use to share with me.
