I would suggest you to start preparation asap. Atleast a person should give an years time for preparation of CAT given that it covers topics from Quantitative Ability, Verbal Ability, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning. You may start with basics in Quants by RS Agarwal followed by LR/DI by N
