Hi, GRE is a exam which need to be taken by students who wish to pursue MS in engineering and related fields from USA and Germany, GRE score are one of the important eligibility criteria to get admission in universities in US, a good GRE score increases the chance of getting admission good universities. In August 2011, the GRE revised General Test, replaced the GRE General Test. The tests has various sections namely: Verbal Reasoning: It measures student's ability to analyze and evaluate written material and get information from it. Quantitative Reasoning: It measures student's ability solve the problem. Analytical Writing: It measures student's critical thinking and analytical writing skills. Each section in the new GRE will be scored on a scale of 130-170, making 340 the high score and 260 the low score. I hope this answers your query. Paper-based GRE® revised General Test Content and Structure The overall testing time for the paper-based GRE® revised General Test is about three hours and 30 minutes. There are six sections with a 10-minute break following the second section. Structure of the Paper-based Test Measure Number of Questions Allotted Time Analytical Writing (Two sections) One "Analyze an Issue" task and one "Analyze an Argument" task 30 minutes Verbal Reasoning(Two sections) Approximately 25 questions per section 35 minutes per section Quantitative Reasoning(Two sections) Approximately 25 questions per section 40 minutes per section The Analytical Writing sections will always be first, while the other five sections may appear in any order. Test Design Features When taking a Verbal Reasoning or Quantitative Reasoning section, you are free, within that section, to skip questions and come back to them later or change the answer to a question. There are paper-based equivalents for most of the new question types, including text completions and numeric entry. Answers are entered into the test book, rather than a separate answer sheet. You will be provided an ETS calculator to use during the Quantitative Reasoning section; you may not use your calculator

ETS has announced major changes to GRE in 2011. The following changes will take place in 2011: 1. More questions on reading comprehension will be added. 2. Analogies and antonyms will be removed from the test. 3. The scoring range for each section will be 130-170, with score increments of one point instead of 200-800 (with score increments of 10 points). 4. GRE test takers will be allowed to use calculators issued by ETS. 5. Unlike the current scenario where the test taker can not skip any question, the new format allow test takers to skip questions and come back to them later and review answers before submitting an entire section. 6. More questions on data analysis will be added. The Computer-based GRE Test Syllabus:- The computer-based GRE General Test is composed of three sections: Analytical Writing (AW), Verbal, and Quantitative (math). Total testing time is three hours.
