There is huge scope for good chemical engineers and doing a course from IIT can be cherry on the cake. Study with all your might and make sure that you have around 85% in 12th.

You are on the right path. Since, right now you are in class 11, focus well on your studies and prepare according to JEE as well as boards. A chemical engineer needs to have extremely good grades.

You should do whatever you are passionate about, if you are interested in doing chemical engineering then go for it.

No, it's not a good choice because first of all you're in 11th and 12th you have to better score. Your focus has to be on 11th and 12th.
