I am weak in chemistry. Can I pursue metallurgical engineering?

I am not good at memorising reactions and mechanisms so my inorganic & organic chemistry are not good. I scored ~86 percentile in jee mains. I can get metallurgy in NIT Jsr in the last rounds due to home state quota. Should I opt it or go for CSE in some private Institute like KIIT or BIT Jaipur?
