To get Australian Permanent Residency (PR), you must take the PTE Academic exam, as it's the only PTE version accepted by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) for migration. The PTE Academic exam is acceptted for all kinds of Australian visa applications.  

PTE score of 50 is accepted for student visas especially in Australia & Canada. These scores meet the English requirement for studying abroad. You may need higher scores for better universities, work visas or for getting a PR.

Starting August 7, 2025, PTE Academic changed how it scores tests. Important tasks like Describe Image and Essay are now scored by both AI and humans together. The new scoring focuses more on how relevant and meaningful your content is, not just grammar and mechanics. This change affects visa point
