I belong to General category from UP. My branch preference is Mechanical Engineering.

You can expect to get into some of these colleges:-

National Institutes of Technology (NITs) 

Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs)

You may also have opportunities in some IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology) and various private engineering colleges.
