Given your rank, a number of branches, like Biotechnology, Chemical, Chemical Plastics and Polymer, Civil, ECE, EEE, Mechanical and Production are possible at BIT Mesra. Other considerable options are BIT-Deoghar, Jaipur and Patna.

If your percentage in boards is more than 75%, then you can try once more for JEE. As NITS and IITS don't take admissions below than percentage.

Hi there, with this rank you would get admission in BIT, Mesra. You can check for the previous year opening and closing rank of BIT, Mesra to get an idea of which branches you will be able to apply for. Regarding the drop thing, if you are not getting your preferred branch or if you wish to improve your score and get into a good college then go ahead. All the best.

NIT, Trichy is better but not with a huge margin. BIT, Mesra has somewhat better placements. Also, don't take a drop for NIT. Frankly taking a drop for NIT, Trichy is not worth as you are getting the colleges with somewhat same reputation.

Hello Ritesh, BIT Mesra is a very old and reputed institute. It has a very good academic record. If you are getting admission here I would advise you to take it else you can take a break, prepare well and appear next year again.
