No, you have a decent rank. Though drop is a critical decision. Ask yourself whether you can handle the pressure or not. Also, you have a good ranking and you'll get a good NIT with decent branch. Also, BIT Mesra, NIT Durgapur, and NIT Kurukshetra are some recommendations.

It is not a good idea to drop a year as you won't get any benefit from the same. You have scored good marks in JEE Mains (around 145), you can get a good college.

You should take admission in NIT or BITs. If you take a drop there might be wastage of a year. The NIT you are getting are also best. If you have talent then nothing can stop you. So move ahead with what you have and build your bright future. All the best
    Thank you.

    Hi there,
See if you are not getting the branch of your choice in any NIT or BIT Mesra then I would recommend you to drop (if you eagerly want to get into your preferred branch).
    All the best.

Given your rank, a number of branches, like Biotechnology, Chemical, Chemical Plastics and Polymer, Civil, ECE, EEE, Mechanical and Production were possible at BIT Mesra. Other considerable options are BIT Deoghar, Jaipur and Patna.
