I got 226 in JEE paper 2 and 91% in 12th. Can I get a seat in NIT, Trichy, Calicut etc? I belong to OBC-NCL category (other state).

My OBC-NCL rank is 1256 and CRL rank is around 5000.

Without rank I cannot give any assurance but you have good chances of conversion. Also, conversion depends on the branch you would prefer.

You have slim chance of NIT, Trichy though you may get NIT, Calicut after few rounds. All the best.
