I got a preparatory rank in JEE Advanced, how can I get a seat in IIT?

<p><span aria-haspopup="dialog" aria-expanded="false" aria-controls="radix-:r19:" data-state="closed">In case students got a preparatory rank in JEE Advanced, there remains some provision to help students get an IIT by joining a preparatory course. </span><span aria-haspopup="dialog" aria-expanded="false" aria-controls="radix-:r1a:" data-state="closed">This course is meant for SC, ST, and PwD candidates who fails to secure cutoff mark to get a direct admission. </span><span aria-haspopup="dialog" aria-expanded="false" aria-controls="radix-:r1b:" data-state="closed">To secure a seat in an IIT, NIT, IIIT or ISM, one has to go through the JoSAA counseling process and several seats are kept open for the above said categories. </span><span aria-haspopup="dialog" aria-expanded="false" aria-controls="radix-:r1c:" data-state="closed">If you pass the preparatory course you will be able to get admission to an undergraduate programme in the next academic year. </span><span aria-haspopup="dialog" aria-expanded="false" aria-controls="radix-:r1d:" data-state="closed">The preparatory course takes one academic year to complete and concentrates on enhancement of your numerical base in subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.</span></p>
