I have 51 marks in Andhra Pradesh EAMCET but 57000 rank. Why so?

<p>One can score 51 marks in Andhra Pradesh EAMCET and earn a rank of 57000. There are number of reasons for this. EAMCET ranks depend on the number of marks you secure in the entrance test, the ranking of all the other candidates, the level of toughness of the exam and the method of normalization.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;First of all, the position that you acquire on the EAMCET rank list depends of the percentage point by which your score beats that of other students. If a number of candidates scored higher, your rank would invariably be lower though you passed the exam. Second, the statistical process maintains the fairness of scores in terms of subjecting the scores to normalization whereby it re-scales scores upwards for subject based exam sessions depending on their levels of difficulty. This may be especially so if you were in a session where the exam paper was deemed easier and your score means you are seeded higher than others who sat the same exam in a more difficult session.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;Also, there is an effect of percentage acquired in the intermediate (10+2) which may be considered as weightage in some cases. To further implement damages to your rank, if your intermediate marks were lower, this could further affect your rank.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;Therefore, because of the availability of a large number of qualified applicants, the normalization process and probably lower intermediate grade performance, the candidate emerged with a rank of 57,000 even though she obtained 51 in the EAMCET.</p>

<p>Both the Intermediate (Class 12) marks and the EAMCET scores have an impact on the rank in the Andhra Pradesh EAMCET. If there is fierce competition and other candidates have better combined scores from both the EAMCET and their Intermediate exams, a score of 51 on the EAMCET may not be enough to get a higher position. Allocation of ranks may also be impacted by category and reservation regulations.</p>
